Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Break the pane of glass above the dishes, reach in, rescue the dishes, replace pane of glass

Get some heavy gag wire that will bend enough to get wedged in there but not bend under the weight of the bowls. Boom! Wedge it in and open.

I think the best advice is to slide a thin card board through the door if you can't tilt the cupboard. I wouldn't do catch the plates with a blanket because the rest of the dishes will come crashing on top of each other.

Put pillows on the floor and open.

Unscrew the cupboard door at it's hinges than slowly tilt and save as many as you can. There will likely be a few casualties but the need of the many outweighs the needs of the few.

Add children on the floor below and if any of the plates break, blame them.

Take a coat hanger and feed a fishing line/twine above the hinge below the bowls and out the other side. Firmly stretch the line and work it upward, strategically lifting the bowls back on the shelf.

Realize that it's a China cupboard. I mean... Were you actually ever going to open it?

How about reviving the plates with a soft material such as a sponge like material?

Make a hole on the glass wide enough to put your hand through. Then manage to hold or arrange the plates to be in order. You may need to open the cupboard while you are holding the plates through the hole.

You need President-elect Trump to come over. (He has tiny hands.) Open cupboard slightly, have Mr. Trump reach inside before the dishes fall and catch the plates! Saved!

These bowls are holding each other up, you cannot remove any without at least one falling. I would put packing tape on the surface of whole pane that the bowls are leaning on. A quick tap with the handle of a butter knife should break the glass, the tape keeping it intact and in place. With gloved hands, push in the taped and broken pane where the bowls are, pushing the bowls together and up at the same time onto the shelf. Let the pane slide between hand and shelf, remove bowls carefully.

How about receiving the plates with a soft material such as a sponge like material? Hold it just right below the opening.

Tape cabinet door shut using electrical or masking tape in several locations
Cut out top right pane of glass
Gently adjust the back column of bowls to be upright
Cut out bottom two panes of glass
Get a bath towel, roll it up
Use the bottom (now pane-less) panels to use your arms to begin to shove the rolled-up towel upwards and snugly between door and shelf
Go back to top section and pull out bowls (combine last two steps if you have 2 ppl...one holding towel for support)
