Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

stabilizēt durvis, stiklu pret traukiem uzspiest. izņemt augšējo, brīvo stiklu. izņemt traukus. Noteikti kādam jātur stikls ar rokām pret traukiem, lai vibrācijas ir vājas.

What if you unscrew the hinges to cabinet door? Have someone keep it held in place during then slowly open from the top in a downward motion n reach down n grab the dishes .

Some real help, I'd try shoving a yardstick or wire hanger under the cabinet door and try to support them, or push them back into place, then open the door. I would try and fashion a tool for this job!! Your other choice, be faster then the cupboard door😞

If the dishes are less than $55, open the door clean up and replace. If they are sentimentally important then read on.
Using a glass cutter and a cheap suction cup, remove the glass above plates. Cost to remove ~$5 (cutter $2.50, suction cup- $2.00; available @ Home Depot)
Cost to replace glass door (assuming single pane 2x3) ~$50 (cost only)

Assuming multiple panes of glass, remove top two panes of glass by prying out the center muntin, other material holding glass may need to be cut away. Then, standing on a ladder, reach down from above.

If possible, move the cupboard 90 degrees clock wise and bend it to laying down to get back the plates to proper place :-D

Buy some Silly String (as used at parties). Open the door a tiny crack and spray it everywhere. Gradually open the door while still spraying. Plates will be held safely in place much like a Spiderman villain.

Open a little crack, stick a yard stick in there to push the plates back. Open the door.

Simple.
Just be fast.

Break the glass pane next to the one where the plates are resting, make it safe then move the plates. Just have to replace the pane of glass then and not the expensive plates.

Unscrew the cabinet door and lift it up from the bottom to push the plates back up. Don't even have to bother catching them some how.
