Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Leave the fine art alone.

Big bowl of cornstarch and water, then open the cupboard slowly? Might absorb some of the damage

Tell the plates to quit being disrespectful and return to their assigned seats.

Open a tiny bit, use a funnel to fill with beachsand, put it on back and open safely. Alternatively, take it in a plane, freejump and arrange in mid air... should work!

Open the door just enough for you to insert a inflatable pool lifesaver or pool matress, leaving the the tip out, inflate it.
Open the door carefully.

Put pillows or a mattress below the cupboard. As it opens let it fall on them.

Open VERY slightly. Slide in a metal T-bar. Turn it sideways to prop up bowls until you can get your arm in the hold up the bowls.

Just leave it like that. Keep the photo you took of these plates. Then compile all these answers and keep it for the next generation. Your grandchild and great grand child will either have something to brag about or embarrassment to carry for the rest of their lives. Or smash everything and get it over and done with.

Use a sheet of thin plastic acrylic (or two)between the door and shelving. his should be strong enough to support the plates long enough for you to get to the plates.

Grab several pillows to place on the floor to catch the fragile porcelain plates. I'd do that.

Get a neighbour to help. Open the door slowly until said friend can hold the plates in place, move them slowly and carefully onto the counter and put them back in neatly.

You need to devise an event that violates the second law of thermodynamics. Reverse entropy. Such as an anti-earthquake, or better still give the cupboard enough time that it spontaneously bursts into life. It's internals will re-arrange themselves to a more efficient system.

Move whole thing a foot or two forward then lean it back against the wall. If you get it right it should be safe to open.
