Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Go to any hardware store buy pen sized glass cutter. Make a T shape pull tab with duct tape and attach to center of window on the right side, using your newly purchased glass cutter hold duct tape tab and cut any form of circle around the tape large enough for your hands to fit through. Tap glass with quick snapping motion inside the circle while firmly holding tape. Catch glass circle. Using both hand secure the endangerd plates while being careful of the cut edges of glass circle

Spread several blankets on the floor in front of the cupboard, then slide the door open slowly, while holding a towel or another blanket to help things fall gently.

Get that stupid mattress I always see people trying to crack eggs on to catch them... better yet have the mattress company sponsor it!

Open the door a crack and inflate a large latex balloon (Amazon, under $7 for 6, 36" latex balloons) half full on the bottom shelf. This should push some back and them open a little farther and reach in and remove them one by one.

Cut the upper pane of glass and remove it. You will then have full access to the fallen dishes ! Pane or glass repair will be a lot less than replacing dishes.

I need to see the whole cabinet. Do the doors slide, or open outward? Can the cabinet be moved, or tilted backwards? If the doors slide, she might be able to slide the door enough to get her hand in there to support the dishes. If the door opens outward, and the cabinet can be tilted, tilt it backwards enough to keep them from falling so you can open the door.

Keep the plates and cupboard exactly as they are as an art installation. But even artists have to eat, so make sure you get new plates and cupboard. If you can't afford to have two sets of plates and two cupboards, ticket your new art installation to the public to cover the cost.
