Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Drill a 4 inch hole in the other side of the wall. Then stuff an inflatable raft inside the cabinet. Pull the rip cord and the raft will push the cabinet door open and give your plates a soft landing.

I would bend a coat hanger to form a loop wide enough to catch first two bowls. Slip coat hanger in, when length is long enough, bend it at entrance so it can then be under bowls, catch them in loop, slowly pull open door until you can put hand under bowls.

out your hand on the pane of glass in front of the plate applying pressure so they don't shift. Using a glass cutter cut the adjacent pane now you have access to puts the plates back on the shelf

This is funny. I would say get a really large empty cardboard box and fill it with those styrofoam peanuts. Then have the box as far away from the falling plates as possible so that their landing position varies. Open the cupboard quickly.

Cut a hole in the glass and reach in.
Or, put a foam mattress on the floor or up close the bottom of the door.

Break the pane of glass above the bowls. Better to replace one piece of glass than 15 broken bowls.

Open the door very slowly and then stick your arm in the door slightly and start retrieving bowls. And if that is successful don't stack them so high anymore.
And who ever said break the glass next to it awesome answer except I would suggest getting a glass cutting tool and use it the to cut the glass instead making a large mess by breaking the glass.

Glass cutter to the upper door, tape it before tapping glass to break the along the cut line. Will it work...won't know til you try it. Don't ever stack bowls that high again!!

Find a magic lantern, rub it until the genie comes out, use one of three wishes to save your dishes.
