Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

I counted a dozen of them in the fallen stack. If you open the cupboard door, it looks like you will only loose about three before you catch the rest. You will still be able to set a table for 8 or at least 6. Pick up the broken pieces. LIFE GOES ON

Sell them as a Challenging Ticket for higher prices than they are, let the buyer to take them home. Get new dishes and pay him the prize if he succeeds.

Unlatch, unhinge and slide the whole door to the right, pushing it in as you go until you can grab them. If you cant get at the hinges, try to remove the right window carefully

look there're just plates let them break, plates are just stuff, stuff is what we clutter up our lives with. you shouldn't have expensive plates to eat off anyway, either that or just blow your house up and start a new life.

The genius answer has been reached by (Kkman Wen) the relative thinker who pointed out 'it's a matter of economics' if the dishes are valuable then break glass cupboard adjacent and remove the dishes then replace the glass to the cupboard. Winner! 👍

Pillows! Lots and lots of pillows. Then they will have a soft landing.

Gently lay down the cabinet (glass door up) and open. Nothing will break.

This is a two-three person job. Have one person firmly press evenly against the door. Have another person unhinge the door and then the person pressing the door start tilting the door back slowly. Some of the plate will probably slided down the angle of the door where the person you had unhinge the door will reach in and grab them.
Or
Slowly crack the door open and close the door so a few plates drop out at a time. As the plates drop out catch them with some kind of cushion (blanket?)

We need a full picture. How does the door open? Does it slide? More info.
