Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Looks like one of those old cupboards with a sliding door. Should be easier to gradually take out the falling ones and then sort the rest out when u can safely open it the whole way.

Set air mattress on floor next to cupboard...
Unhinge the right side of the cupboard. Open slowly from right side, just enough to reach in to raise the first plate. Once stabilized, have someone stand on the left side to aid in lifting plates. If all else fails they will fall on air mattress

The only obvious answer is to open and close the door quickly breaking only a few plates at a time.

Unscrew the cabinet door hinges from the cabinet, while holding the door in place. Once hinges are detached, open the door slightly at hinge end and slide in a large sheet of stiff card stock to hold the plates back. Remove the doors, gently slide the card stock until you can grab the dished.

Clear your cache and then restart in Safe Mode.
If that doesn't work, do a System Restore.

Photograph the two panels then do some wild colour variations and stick the life size prints onto the other panels, Warhol style.
Just eat out or order in food from now on.

very simple, get a piece of poster board and slide it up inside the cupboard to replace the door, then you can slide it a bit to the left and remove the dishes one at a time from the back side, or hold it in place while someone else removes them

The cardboard or plastic being slid in could work. Or put a mattress on the floor and then try catching as many as you can. The mattress should protect them. Have someone else there to move the one that falls on the mattress so if another one falls it should be safe.

Get two helpers and a sheet. Line the counters with bed pillows, just in case.
While one helper controls the amount of opening on the door, the top person stands on the counter or a stepladder and slides the sheet in from the top while the second sheet person holds the bottom of the sheet taunt under the BACK of the upper cabinet , creating a sling. Open the door slowly and gently lower your bowls. Voila! (as a Mom of seven..practice makes perfect.)

You could always fill the top half of the cupboard with expansion sealing foam. Should be quiet easy to inject through a small hole or gap. Dishes adhere to each other and to the cupboard and its easy to clean off.

Always check for the distance between the glass and the porcelain plate before open.

Determine which is least expensive, the cost of the plates or the cost to replace the glass in the door. To save the plates, break the glass at the top of the door since there appears to be nothing leaning against that area, reach in and reset the plates. Once everything is in place open the cabinet and measure/replace the glass in the cabinet door.
