Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Remove the glass from the door above the dishes, stand on a step ladder, and take them out, replace glass after you're finished...

Thread some fishing line through the opening. Use pins or tacks to hold it in place.

Use the spell 'Wingardium Leviosa' to make the plates levitate. Then open the cupboard and use your wand to put the plates in desired postion. Be sure to get it right though, it's Leviosa not Leviosa.

Is the cupboard built into the wall? If not, slide cupboard forward and tilt gently back, then open door.

Smash or cut off the glass that is just above the plates on the edge.
Get a stool, chair or ladder to climb up to the point where you can reach the plates without a problem.
I'm my case, I'd just open the door and catch the plates with my body as I covered as much area possible. But, I'm also 6'2" 300lbs athlete; I can do that. Not sure that's your case.

Seriously people... get a glass etcher ... cut a square large enough to get your hand in....fix the plates....replace the glass. Smashing the glass panel is too messy.

Use [appropriate tool thpe] to remove the glass door off at the hinges and, with the help of another person or two, tilt it verrry slowly so the dishes can be caught while sliding instead of falling. Try to sneak a towel in there for extra protection once the angle is just big enough for a small hand.

Seal all around the cupboard doors apart from a small crack. Mix up a massive batch of jelly and pump it into the cupboard. Once the cupboard is full, wait until the jelly has set and then open the door. Eat the jelly and retrieve crockery.
