Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Open it just a bit, and start introducing tissues or napkins one by one. Two packages. Be patient and do it until it is full inside (and well packed), then open another couple of inches (but not completely), slowly and they won't fall at all. Try to grab them one by one.

Unplug the cabinet, then wait 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

Open the door, allowing the plates to break, then repair using the traditional Japanese technique of kintsugi. Proudly display as a reminder of the time when people on the Internet restored your faith in humanity.

Why do you want to open the door when you can smash the glass on top and top right and get the plates out easily.

Make a hole in the glass just big enough to let your hand through. Fix the plates. Leave the hole just in case it happens again.

Physics says there are multiple universes, in one of them, the dishes are stacked neatly. Acquire one portal gun, and travel through multitudes of universes until you find the exact one with the neatly stacked dishes.

I was really entertained and had to laugh my ass off with these very IMAGINATIVE and really FUNNY answers.
Break the top of the cabinet and use a ladder to reach for these Ming Dynasty Chinas...Goodluck!

Use a fishtape device to carefully wrangle a piece of cardboard (the thickest that you can get in place in front of the plates, or maybe towels. Then careful open the cupboard.
When I installed a rear dashcam into my cars, I used a combination of a fishtape and a coat hanger fashioned into a hook so I was able to work in tight spaces that my hands could reach. The fish tape is a guide that allows you force the cardboard/towel (towel glued to cardboard?) behind the plates,

I think the cupboard's door is sliding sideways, so just open it normally and the plates should go back to normal without breaking any of them

This looks more like a sliding door than a swing open one, and the bowls toppled when you were closing the door. So why don't you slide it open gently till you can fit your hand in, then rearrange it back.

It's a sliding door. Slide it to the right enough to get your hand in and grab the plate. Use your other hand to smack yourself in the head for not thinking of it yourself.
