Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Put loads of mattress in front of the cupboard, open the cupboard and pray they will not break

Get a glass cutter, like those used in the movies. Cut a circle slightly bigger then the plates, and you can save the plates but not your cabinet. Question: which of it cost more? Cabinet or plates?

Put a fluffy mattress or a pile of fluffy pillows on the ground where you assume it may land. This might prevent breakage, and you won't need to tilt the cupboard or anything.

Buy 20 sacks of marshmallows, sneak some of it in the layers of the cabinet and the floor, while slowly opening the cabinet, eat some. That should do it.

Put sufficient padding close under the cupboard to catch the falling plates, open the door slowly, and save the plates from harm.

Open a hole from the cupboard on the left, large enough to fit your hand. Hold the plates in place while you open the door. Stack the plates vertically from now on.
Brag about your ingenious solution to hubby so he takes care of the carpentry work.
Alternatively, accept defeat and film the event in ultra slow motion. Post in YouTube. Become a millionaire. Buy as many plates as you please.

Get a friend to assist and steps for height. Unscrew door hinge & drop a throw or cardboard down the glass door to protect and use the door as the catcher. Flipping the top toward you, slow & gently but keeping the door close at the bottom, rising slowly, until all the bowls are secured. If you can, drop a cloth down first in case any fall.

Or looks like a sliding door. Open a bit, wriggle your hand in, lift the plates to safety.....

Take melted chocolate and pour inside. Once it sets, cool it with a fan. When it goes hard, you can open the cupboard. Invite the whole neighbourhood to lick the chocolate and free the plates one by one.
