Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Carefully destroy the upper left window. Then you can remove all plates from above.

Take a roll of toilet paper and wrap around your dominant hand including your fingers. Hold the handle of the cupboard with the non dominant hand and pull.
once the sound ends and ceramics destroyed, use the dominant hand to clean the tears.

Tape the sides of the cupboard until it the top. Fill it with water. Let the plates float. Remove the tape from top to bottom slowly ... until the plates float to the ground. Open the cupboard! :)

With a glass cutter, cut a whole in the glass in the center of the outer plate, the whole should be smaller than the plate. Then, push the plates back up with your hand and hold it there while slowly opening the cupboard and repositioning your hold.

Buy new house, move into it, buy cupboard similar to your old one, then open old cupboard, and back to your new home, check if plates have despawned in your new place, if not, keep trying it until you will succeed. By the way, you will have new house.

Fire a portal hole at the floor in front of the cupboard and another in the glass supporting the bowls. Allow bowls to continuously fall through both and swiftly grab a plate as the fall past you until you have retrieved all plates. Close portals to prevent injuries to small children with great curiosity

How did this even happen? Second that cabinet has a sliding door so don't open it because everything is not stable once you shift it to the right. Glass is far less$ to replace so I say don't break it with force because there are two stacks that are going in different directions. Get a hand glass score & go to the top section of the pane & cut a big enough hole for your hand then tap out the center( might want to tape the rest of glass) save dishes. Keep a piece of glass for replacement.

Get a large decorative Japanese style fan, open the door just enough to slide the fan in while closed and open the fan at the same time as the door, creating a sort of floor

2 ways, have someone carefully move the plates from the other door carefully if the door is hinged in such a way to allow access. Some will fall to the lower shelf but they shouldn't break from that height.
The other way is to get a big blanket, stuff or line a large box or plastic crate to give enough cushion and open the door slowly with the box as close to the cabinet edge as possible and let the plates fall slowly. You'll need 2 or 3 people. Again, the fall shouldn't break the dishes.

Carefully break the glass panel on the top portion, remove the plates from the top.. a broken glass is cheaper than the broken plates :D

Open the door 1/4 inch, use a silicone caulking gun and drizzle it down over the bowls and glass. Let it cover as much of the bowls as possible. Wait several days. Now the bowls are safely and temporarily 'glued' together. Open door/bowl combo and slowly peel the flexible silicone off one bowl at a time.

Find someone with claims to have an obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and lock him up in your kitchen..
Wait 2 hours.... If the dishes are perfectly aligned in their shelves, undamaged, and your kitchen shines and smell flowers; success!, and mr. OCD actually _has_ OCD..

If failure, congratulate the fellow and tell him that he clearly doesn't have OCD...
