Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Have a drum with wheels if available filled with water ready next to the door. Then one person will open the door and atleast 2 to 3 persons will push the drum to catch the plates.

Make a hole in the top that won't usually be seen and start adding something soft like packing peanuts or cotton pillow stuffing. Also, don't stack stuff as high that it's likely to fall over

grab a pillow or 2, depending on how fast you or your families reflexes are, you would be able to open the door and catch them, due to gravity, they will fall at 9.8 m/sec. You should be able to slide the pillow under em and catch em. But start below the place, not right at it. I say probably 3-5 inches from it.

Have one person hold the glass door steady. Unscrew the hinges, then slowly slide the glass UP, while using it to prevent the dishes from falling out of their position. So you're pushing the glass into the bowls, and also sliding it up. Once the door is up, the second person comes in with a large folded towel or blanket, continuing to slowly work up until the entire pile of dishes is supported and buffered by the towel beside and below. Put the glass down, remove plates, reattach the hinges.

Get a large laundry basket full of blankets. Open cabinet and let dishes land softly.

Place a bed of foam and soft shit everywhere you can around the area. Make sure you don't block the path of the door. Then open the door as fast as possible and with cat like reflexes prevent as much damage as possible

Did you forget rule number 1? "Always carry a towel."
Hang the towel underneath the cupboard with some kind of strong adhesive, and then do like firemen do and let them fall into the towel whilst you hold the other end so it makes a soft landing.
Or go consult with Deep Thought for a definitive answer.

Get about four big, beautiful, strong men in to lift that thing very carefully on to it's back, open the door on the right first and then put the kettle on for the men. And take those plates out and put them in the bold corner. Tut.
