When my mom moved to assisted living I would go once a week and spend the day with her. We'd have lunch in the dining room where they had 5 seat tables so we'd always be sitting with others. I got bored listening to talk about daytime television, grandkids, etc. so I started asking about people's lives, especially when they were growing up. I tried to be a bit specific, asking about where they went to school, what chores they did, what was their favorite food growing up. Absolutely fascinating! So many incredible lives lived. Everyone loved sharing and I think everyone loved hearing them share.

I’m really not making light of mental illness; what im trying to do is to lighten the mood a tiny bit in a very depressing situation. It seems Sis is appropriately diagnosed with IED because she comes across as a genuine improvised explosive device, and that’s ODD. Seriously, though, has anyone here ever heard of either diagnosis? This is my first time seeing either one. (And if you suffer from either or both, I intended no harm; I’m just trying to be as cheerful as I can about a miserable situation, and the first two posts I read here when I woke up today were two of the most depressing things I’ve ever read anywhere.
