How to Tell a Long Joke?
It takes time to master a joke, especially a long one. This doesn’t mean you have to memorize the whole joke word-for-word. Like many jokes with punchlines, you must know the lows and highs. The funny parts and the fillers. What do we mean by that? You have to highlight the important parts and fill the listener with details.
Example of it? Norm MacDonald. First, to make the audience more interested, he tells funny story jokes as if they really happened. He highlights the essential parts by making another joke and fills in the information by just rambling. And then, at the end, he tells a punchline that seems out of place. To make it more potent, he baits the audience by keeping things quiet. It’s an interesting approach to already hilarious jokes.
