In a typical family kitchen sitting on the counter, is an average fruit bowl.
Ours happens to be ceramic, and I noticed a sharp chip on the edge of the bowl the other day when my daughter was trying to reach for a snack.
Usually not the end of the world, but with two small children under the age of seven around the house, I didn't want my young daughter or my son getting their fingers cut when they tried to grab some fruit.
As if I need another reason for her not to want to eat healthily.
I could have just thrown the bowl out, but I figured might as well come up with an idea on how to repurpose it.
So, I threw it on the ground! It shattered into multiple unique pieces.
I glued the pieces back together as I saw fit. Then painted the edges of the shattered white bowl with acrylic paint to give it some life and pops of color.
My kids are safe. I created art. Now I just need a new place to keep my fruit.
