Hey Pandas, What Are Your Pet Peeves When At A Hair Salon? (Closed)

The question is self-explanatory. It could be a general or specific thing that always irks you, something you find is a consistent habit from the staff, the interior decor, bad experiences, and/or disappointing outcomes.
This isn't about shaming, canceling, and calling out any place or stylist in particular. So, please don't mention names and companies. Although franchise chains that are everywhere are an exception. For example, Magicuts and Ultracuts.

Chit chat. I just want my hair cut, if I wanted therapy I'd go to a bar.

I love my salon and i get along well with the people there.
But i have been to a couple of of desperation and they didn't even ask what i wanted. They saw i had curls and assumed i wanted my hair relaxed. ABSOLUTELY not. And when i expressed that one was like "if you don't want that then I'm not going to do your hair. ". The other did my hair so shittily, i cried in my car after. For reference they flat ironned my hair straight (which wasn't really what i wanted but fine) and THEN cut my hair!!

I asked for a trim, not a full chop

People are always cutting my hair way too short. I have a fairly specific length and pictures of how short I want it but every single time it's waaay shorter. I end up looking like a lesbian. To be fair it's rare to find someone who actually knows how to work with short curly hair. I'd do it myself but I really don't trust myself with anything sharp.

Here's my pet peeves:
- They don't brush the hair off your face like they used to.
- The trimmings get EVERYWHERE. Like how tf is it in my shirt?
- Being told what and what not to do with MY hair. Giving tips is fine, but how often I wash it and how I want to style it everyday is up to me. If I want to pay for a style that's something I want done as a treat to myself. Not a commitment.
- Being burned by the hair straightener.

For me it’s pulling my hair back up very violently

Brushing my hair so aggressively that I can head the strands snapping 😧

Employees talking with each other while giving a haircut. Please concentrate on the haircut.

Not having a towel or some protection around my neck while they dye my hair. I had two blouses ruined by now, because of blobs of hair dye that landed on me during the process.

I love my hair stylist but she always cuts my bangs JUST short enough that I can't tuck them behind my ears. I hate having hair in my face/touching my face, and it's always mildly infuriating every time it happens.

When they can’t talk and work at the same time. I didn’t plan on being here all day so STFU and cut my hair.
Also, when they don’t know how to measure. If I (USA) ask for an inch cut off, they either cut 2 inches or 1/2 inch. I’m about to start bringing a measuring tape.

First (and last) time I went to a hair salon lady came up behind me with her comb and just started yanking it through my hair. She wasn’t even gentle. I get that she was in a rush but it hurt like heck
