We all love our furry friends, and an important part of having one is naming them!

The shelter had just randomly given her the name Ruth and once she got to know me she started following me around and being the Christian nutcase I am I decided the name was perfect.

Moxie, because she’s a feisty, brave special needs cat. Star, because she’s a little star. Regen, because I wanted to call her ‘Rain’ but my husband said he was sick of hippy-dippy names and wanted her to be called something a bit more ‘Normal’. It was only a few months after we rescued her that a friend told him that Regen was Dutch/German for ‘Rain’...lol

We named our dog Lucy because the night we got her as a puppy she was whining a lot and it reminded my mom of one of the preschoolers in her class who would just go sit in the corner and cry all day until pick up time. She wasn’t even suggesting the name, just telling us about the little girl, and it was some how the perfect name.

İ found my son Umut Berke (powerfull hope) with four newborn ciblings in a box. Because of cold weather and hunger they were about to die. We came home feed and prepair hot water bag to keep safe. Then we went to the animal hospital. During a month they were fine. Then öne of them died at midnight. İ went to vet again. After 24 hours later we post 4 kitties in sensitive care. Only he was alive. İ prayed please save hım it is not powerfull hope again and again. Finally he survived. he is 2 years old and very healthy Thats our naming story

Postmodernism is the name of my cavoodle (Pomo for short). I named him this because I thought it would be hilarious to say things like “postmodernism traipsed mud through the house” etc.

We named our youngest cat Roscoe Variel, after the intersection he was cowering in at 5 weeks old! He was a brat, but a gorgeous Maine C**n.

I named my dog Max, after a dog I used to care for on the weekends when I was a teenager. The original Max was quiet and kept to himself. My Max thinks he’s an 100 lb dog (he’s a toy breed - Havanese) and has an attitude. 🤪

Our youngest cat is Francesca, she is a snowshoe Siamese and when we got her she was underweight, had the fur of a malnourished cat as well as the characteristic roll tail of such a cat (malnourishment syndrome) that was like a skinny rat tale. They named her French Fry, which was not okay, we compromised and kept French as a French woman (the meaning of Francesca). Now she has a silky coat that reminds me of a mink coat, super shiny and slick, her eyes are bright, she is fat - almost too fat but not quite, and a fat tail like an otter, that still rolls because roll tail is a neurological condition. She's gorgeous and really has met the standards of her name.

My husband and I set up an aquarium, and wondered which types of fish should we put in first except the cleaners. Made a selection, asked the kids for opinion, and they unanimously decided on guppies, because of the cartoon Bubble Guppies. So I had to get 7 of them, so they could be named Molly, Gil, Goby, Deema, Oona, Nony and Zuli. Two cleaners are Mr. Grouper (orange) and Mr. Grumpy (gray). And the other day one of the females got a baby, and my middle one screamed 'Look mom, there is Mia' (Molly's baby sister, also from the show). Now we have another baby, guess we're lost, NickJr should get more characters :D

I was a PTA mom who had volunteered to organize and type up the school phone book. One day I had the slips of paper containing the students' contact info piled on the coffee table and the kids and I were reading through them. My 3rd-grade daughter exclaimed, "Here's a weird one: Guffry." I asked her how it was spelled. "G-E-0-F-F-R-E-Y." After explaining to her it was pronounced "Jeffrey," I vowed to name our next dog Guffry, and our sweet, male toy poodle was so named. It fitted him perfectly.

I had a cat named Midnight-rose. I adopted her in 2001 from the Colorado Springs Humane Society. The night before I adopted her I drove past a billboard for the Midnightrose Casino in Cripple Creek CO I thought the name was so pretty and when I saw that black & white little kitten I knew it was the name for her. She had a wonderful 15 year life.

My little one was a rabbit, a big Californian buck, and he developed a long name over his life: Sir Olaf Magnus Winchester Willoughby Careful of Specklesear Polkadot Biteyface.
Olaf was the first name he was given, and we called him Ollie (pronounced with an "oh" sound like Olaf, rather than the typical pronunciation of the name Ollie) for short. He was named for the snowman from Frozen, and his sisters, and later his son, were given similarly themed names. Magnus was given as an additional name since we felt he needed another good Scandinavian name, and, at the time, the Magnus Chase series was being read in our house. Winchester is for the brothers from Supernatural, a favourite show in our household. Willoughby is an old family name, and in conjunction with Careful, creates the phrase "be careful", which was said often to our dear bun. He was foolish at times, and didn't understand his own size, and often knocked things over or nearly fell off of things when he was out of his cage. Specklesear and Polkadot were both given to him after we had an especially hot summer and he grew in spots of white in his dark points when he was shedding. Biteyface was given as a sobriquet as he got older and more temperamental. He was a dear old boy, very charming, always demanding attention, and he will be missed.

we were thinking of names for our dog, and she's a light brown mutt. my brother in the kitchen was eating cinnamon toast crunch, and he calls out, "what about cinnamon?" we all liked the name and said she was as brown as cinnamon and as sweet as cinnamon until we realized that cinnamon wasn't actually sweet. she and ophelia (great pyrenees) are the most spoiled brats and I love them
