Three months ago during my travels in Digos, Philippines, I stumbled upon a small street vendor selling a mysterious food that no one seemed to be able to identify. The vendor claimed it was a rare delicacy that only the bravest of travelers could handle.
Being the adventurous type, I decided to give it a try. I took a spoonful and was immediately hit with a strange, spicy flavor that I couldn't quite place. I asked the vendor what it was, and he simply replied, "It's a secret."
After finishing the mysterious food, I began to feel a strange tingling sensation in my mouth. It started out small, but quickly spread throughout my body until I was shaking with uncontrollable laughter.
As it turns out, the secret ingredient in the food called 'Sinaing na Katyobong' was Angel's Trumpet Flower, a potent hallucinogen, and I was soon transported to a world of fantastical creatures and surreal landscapes. I spent hours wandering through this strange new world, laughing and marveling at the bizarre sights around me.
When I finally came back down to earth, I realized that I had been sitting in the middle of Estrada Farmer's Market the whole time, clutching a half-eaten bowl of mysterious vegetarian delicacy. Despite the strange experience, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the unforgettable journey that came with trying the strangest food in the southern part of the Philippines.
