I think humans should not expand to other planets. I hugely enjoy the topic of space exploration and I'm all for sending space probes and learning as much as possible about the universe. But I find it odd how the majority sort of seems to take it as a given we should do this. Even 'serious' scientific journals that publish articles about the ethics of it all. I have yet to find a scientific publication in a peer-reviewed journal that does not just start their chain or reasoning *after* the hypothesis of humans colonialising other planets being a good thing. All this while theorems like the Great Filter indirectly but clearly speak against the usefulness of so-called intelligent life.
Tl;dr: Let's take another long and hard look at the idea of exporting the human race to other planets. We've got to admit we're a bit biased as a species.
