Does anyone else have any funny and irrational fears?
Example: I'm afraid of cans of biscuit dough. I'm afraid that one day my quest for buttery goodness will have me losing at a game of biscuit roulette. I will be opening a can, which will explode, and I'm left looking at the stumps where my hands used to be.

Putting bleach anywhere. Ever since I learned about mustard gas I thought there was any kind of lethal gas that could be made with some good ol clorox and O2

No noise. we have no idea why but when theres no noise in the room we are in, we freak out. After we are out of the room we look back and laugh.

I hate crowds. Too many people and I feel like they’re all staring at me. Sometimes there are so many people I feel trapped. If I can’t see the door or have to squeeze past a bunch of people I don’t like it and will try to get out of there as soon as possible.

Elevators. You could get stuck and go crazy. Either way, I just can't trust them.

Dogs and more recently the sound of silver on silver. Like the sound of keys jangling or bracelets and stuff like that. It stems from the fear of dogs (cynophobia) where i would get very scared when I heard the sound of a dog collar jangling, and now the two fears have separated so I will get very anxious if i hear silvery noises even when there is no dog! In fact, i would say the fear of silvery noises is worse now then the dog thing! my cynophobia was more prevalent in my early childhood.

Ants, i despise ants, my skin crawls just by imagining them on me, dunno if its a phobia, but i can't stand ants, and massive bodies of water also like Dams, ( pools no problem, ocean, as long as i don't try to swim in it no problem, a dam or a reservoir.... my vertigo kicks in and i feel like my balance is gone, its really wierd ).

Anything with more than 4 legs... the way they move just creeps me out so much that I scream shake uncontrollably, or even throw up

I wouldn't say this is necessarily entirely irrational, but it's certainly an odd one. I've (F13) recently started my freshman year of high school, and I've had my hair cut extremely short since fifth grade. It's just easier on the whole. However, that combined with the fact that I tend to prefer sweatpants and hoodies to even t-shirts and shorts (or the fact that I hate almost everything to do with the color pink) means that I have MANY anecdotes about being mistaken for a guy. So here's one of my top three fears: That one day, some girl will think I'm a guy and try to ask me out or ask for my number. I can't even imagine the embarrassment that would happen in that scenario.

I actually have a phobia of sorts of crash test dummies. I'm a child of the 90's, which (as some of you know) had some creepy television commercials. The car commercials that were featuring safety used crash test dummies to demonstrate. As a child, I found them disturbing and the result was a recurring nightmare where murderous crash test dummies took over the world and the last thing I would see is a child dummy trying to strangle and eat me after it killed my family. It always stuck with me and even now, at 36 years old, I cringe and squirm at the sight of a crash test dummy. I really hate them.

I'm afraid of heights. This might not seem irrational, but I'll explain. Standing on ladder precariously. Fine. Being in a perfectly secure building near a window. Holy c**p no! Lol

Also, I hate going underground. And anything with glass. Glass bridges. Will definitely break. Glass lifts. Why would I want to see how they work? They'll break!

I have two
1) bike riding. I had a major accident and haven’t been able to ride since.
2) semi trucks. I’m afraid of being squashed by them. And I have claustrophobia so that doesn’t help

Caterpillars!! Boy howdy do they give me heebie jeebies!!
I'm also afraid to hang anything on the wall above my bed, thanks to reading Flat Stanley as a child. I'm in my late 40s and have not been flattened by a picture yet, but I don't want to take any chances.

Octopodes!! (plural of octopus) I get so nervous whenever I'm near them, when I go to the aquarium (quite often; i love the ocean) i cant go into the octopus section without freaking out. I think this fear was caused when i was 5, i went to the aquarium and i remember seeing a video of a kraken destroying a bridge. I GOT SO SCARED! Later that night, i had a nightmare me & my family and friends were on a bridge and each getting individually 'unalived' by an octopus. And also I think theyre gonna pop out of nowhere and drag me down with their tentacles and sucker things. Eeekkk and also they're way too smart, and they look like aliens-

Mirrors or blank screens (as in tv screens or computer monitors), particularly in dark rooms. Some part of me always expects something to crawl out of them.

Cut fruit! The sight of it makes me sick. I don’t know if it’s trust issues or what, but I just can’t!
Also mandarin peel. Cannot touch it at all.

I'm afraid of getting old, getting frail and being alone. I don't have kids and I probably won't have kids in the future. What if my partner dies before me and I'm alone and old? The older you get the less your body works and thinking about my future "golden years". It freaks me out and gives me anxiety. Up to the point that I start crying.
Also seeing older people, especially ones that are feeble and have problems walking for example, really gets me.
