Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Get your husband or a friend to set the cupboard down flat on its back and then take all the plates out and set the cupboard back up. To avoid further instances try using a nonslip mat on the shelves but if course find one that will look neat with it or sew a nonslip back to some pretty cotton fabric. And maybe don't stack the dishes so high next time.

On a serious note...the balloon idea wasn't bad, but it sounds tricky...if I was you, I'd drape a blanket or towel under it like they do for victims in a burning building...they'd fall and some may break, but I think you could limit it to one or two...that or put a pool of water under them...if you have enough room for a big enough basin

The acceleration of an object from standstill to free fall is 9.8m/s/s depending on a few variables. The ark of acceleration gives you roughly 1/4 of a second to catch them at a 40cm depth once the door is rapidly opened. However you are better off inviting 1 Greek person round, getting pissed, open that door and claim it as a foray into the Greek way of life.

Depends..if it's China belonging to your Ex husband's grandmother...take a hammer and smash the glass along with everything on the shelves above and below it...dance in the broken shards until the madness ends...then report to ER for stitches...I promise you will be totally relaxed afterwards

Slide door open a fraction of an inch - you could probably slide it slooowly an inch maybe two....then insert bubble wrap or newspaper below to catch the plates if they fall ....and then insert a coat hanger with the end wrapped in double stick tape , press upwards on the plate and attempt to push it back onto the shelf.

Two options: #1 Write The Minestry of Magic and ask for a one time exception that allows you to use magic outside of Hogwarts or if you're a muggle, option #2 write an add offering your home to someone looking to throw a Greek celebratory party where you supply the dishes that are broken as is tradition.
You're welcome.

Call Chris Angel, the magician. I've seen Chris walk through glass (ironically, it was a plate glass window). Reaching through the glass panels to straighten the dishes should be child's play.

Cut a hole in the top of the cabinet and reach in. Or tilt the cabinet back and fix the plates

Put your hand against the door to keep pressure on it the open the other door and throw a pillow on the bottom of the cabinet and then start trying to grab the platest from the open door

This happened to me. What I did slightly open the door and put a piece of cardboard between the door and the plates. Open the door, the cardboard will hold the plates until you can put then safely back
