Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Whatever you plan to do, create a VM first a make a carbon copy of your house and kitchen and cupboard and plate situation in it. Create backup. Then start exploring options. If any option brakes the plates, simple delete VM and restart from the backup with another option until suitable solution is found. Then actually do exactly whatever worked in this testing environment. This is standard practice in IT... What do you mean I'm forgetting something?

Throw a Greek wedding, open the door at the reception and yell "Opa", then charge the newlyweds for the broken plates.

Take a picture of the cupboard with a straight front-perspective, photoshop the plates together, send it to posterXXL. Once u get the poster fix it on the front and the problem should be solved...
In the case u need the plates u can take another step and print them on thick white cardboard, and cut them out, because u already have the photoshop file ;)

Cut the glass just above the dishes, arrange the dishes and open the door. If you try to break the glass they might fall even more.

In my opinion have several people to brace the glass and slowing open the door. Good luck !

Cover any surrounding area with anything soft...pillows and duvets will work. Cover at least 1/2 meter to either side. Then open the door really quickly. Once door open grab slanted stack to stablise the ones that fell out the cupboard should not be broken. Fingers crossed. Good luck!

take a glass cutter. cut out a circle of glass so you have a hole big enough to gently remove the bowls with your hand. reattach the glass circle plate to the hole and fix it with duct tape. take a flamethrower. burn the cupboard so the glass can merge together. voila.

If you break the glass on the right the vibration on the left would trigger a crash. Instead break the glass on the left with a blanket.

I need to ask if this is a sliding or a swinging door. If it's sliding, just open slowly. If it's swinging, is there anything below this cupboard? Is there space to put cushions below for when I open it?

Use a diamond drill bit to cut a hole in center of the glass. Push bowls back into place with a stick. Then, either replace the pane of glass or drill a hole in all other panes of glass to give the appearance of an intended design.
