Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

It's like srhowdingers cat. They are broken and not broken at the same time. Only until it is opened will we learn if they break. Or if an outside force interrupts that action.

Now you've achieved the viralosity you desired, you can open the door and throw the whole glued- together mess away.

Place a cushion on the counter top. Open slowly, just enough to snake your arm in. As they began to slide down use your hand and arm to slow their descent.

Tape door shut. Pull cupboard out. Lay it on its back. Remove tape. Open door. Kick husband in the nuts for not thinking of it before you.

If the plates are important, climb into the man hole in the ceiling and crawl to the ceiling above the cupboard. Then use a drill & a large down light hole sized drill bit to drill a hand sized hole. Next carefully reach your arm down and re-stack the plates back to their proper position before opening the door. Then either decide wow what a good place to get a down light installed or fill the hole :-)

Take the hinges off the door while still holding it against the cabinet. When they're off, pull the door open at the top half only a SMALL crack enough to hopefully be able to reach in & grab the first dish, then close it to catch the rest. Repeat t until you successfully grab all the falling dishes. Or if you're really talented; crack it slightly from the bottom & let each dish slide down one by one to the bottom by applying less and less pressure to let them all eventually slide down slowly

The plates aren't actually stagnant. They are falling with little to support it. Reason: DSLR on the bottom right of the picture

Put a laundry basket filled with towels under the door and open slowly. You might lose a few but wtf, you let them all tip in the first place

It would be less expensive to replace the pane of glass directly above the dishes than to replace all the dishes.. Use a glass cutter to remove the pane above. Carefully reach in and take the dishes out. Replace the pane of glass.

Leave a mattress in the floor. Slight open a little. Insert your hand if possible. Take out one by one. If it drops. You had a good chance to save it. Otherwise just slight open till you can take them with open arms. Make sure ask your husband or a guy with big arms and hands to scoop them for you.
