I had a friend like that too - it was EXHAUSTING. Once right after exams, we were trying to comfort another friend who had scored 1% under a passing grade, and was really stressed about it. The compliment-fisher was moaning and sobbing about only getting 98% on the exam, as if she deserved to be comforted as well. We told her to stop being insensitive.
