Not all cats get like that. My neighbours cat is 18 and still clibming the fence each morning to watch the squirrels. The way he jumps around I'd say he was younger but I've seen his vet record he's 18

No, I don’t deserve a pat on the back for accepting a situation that was forced on me and trying to make the best of it. Pitching the rent lower was a sensible business decision, I couldn’t afford to lose the equity nor cover the full cost of ownership for two houses. Lower rent made the rental more attractive. Being a good landlord meant positive relationships with my tenants. Basic decency should be normal, I didn’t go massively above and beyond, just treated people the way I would want to be treated as a tenant. I think the only thing I did that was at all unusual was ask outgoing tenants if they were willing to act as references for potential new tenants. I figured if I get to ask for references, potential tenants should also have the opportunity to ask someone else what it was like to have me as a landlord. It kinda hurts that I and others like me are lumped into “all landlords are shameless parasites”. I tell someone I was a landlord, they assume they know what type of person I am. I don’t want pats on the back, I just don’t want to be vilified.
Exactly. Still a societal parasite. The post also sounds more condescending than kind-hearted, like "Look how little $200 mean to me, so I can let it slide so those ~poors~ will worship me as they should"
