This Photographer Captured 40 New Photos Of Street Cats Around The World That Are Full Of Character

Photographer Marcel Heijnen has been featured on Bored Panda before, and for good reason. His ongoing street photography project captures cats as they move through cities around the world, blending so naturally into their surroundings that they almost seem like part of the architecture. Whether perched outside small shops, stretched out beside market stalls, or watching passersby from shadowy corners, these cats bring an extra layer of life and personality to everyday urban scenes.

Best known for projects like Shop Cats of Hong Kong and City Cats of Istanbul, Heijnen has built a body of work that is both documentary and playful. His photos don’t just highlight the charm of cats, but also the unique rhythm of the streets they inhabit, showing how these animals coexist with people in ways that feel effortless, familiar, and deeply rooted in local culture. Across every city he photographs, Heijnen reveals the same delightful truth: no matter where you are in the world, cats always seem to find a way to belong.
