Despite emerging as one of the most promising female entrepreneurs in the early 2000s, Holmes’ company faced multiple scandals that sparked controversy, an award-winning drama series, a new documentary, and finally a slew of scathing but humorous memes.
She began serving her sentence on May 30, 2023, and is currently being held at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Bryan, Texas. Before her incarceration, Holmes worked on a documentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.
Fielder first rose to prominence with the parody reality show Nathan for You (2013-2017) and has since gained recognition for his surrealist shows that often blur the lines between fiction and reality.
As Fielder’s comedic style met one of the USA’s most controversial business figures, social media quickly flooded with savage memes, roasting Holmes’ “horror” expression, her business decisions, and the bizarre defense “trauma response.”
