For the first time in the world, the sound of electronic music was heard from the top of a wind turbine. Alex Parker, a young Romanian DJ, mixed from a height of 100 meters on a turbine from Europe's largest onshore wind park. The event took place at CEZ Wind Farm in Romania and marks both the collaboration with the Neversea Festival and the start of a „green” partnership between the festival and CEZ Group, one of the biggest players on the Romanian energy market.
Alex Parker is the DJ who accepted the challenge and mixed over 5 hours in an unique place. Feerless, enthusiastic and motivated by the desire to become the first DJ in the world to lead music to the height of a wind farm, Alex has managed to unite green energy with music. The unique atmosphere was also supported by the technical teams of both CEZ Wind Park and Neversea festival, which ensured the safe performance of the "concert", up in the „sky”.
The equipment, the desk and the mixer of the DJ were carried with a crane from the wind turbine, having a capacity of 700 kg, up to a height of 100 meters. The movement of people and other small devices was made with the elevator from the turbine that cumulated a distance of more than 3 km in that day only.
CEZ Group in Romania is for the second consecutive year a partner of the Neversea Festival, and through this collaboration aims to increase the awareness on the importance of using alternative sources of electricity, among current and future generations.
„The Neversea generation is determined to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle and we are fully supporting their plan. CEZ Wind Farm is from now on, more than an impressive amenity, it is the proof that we can do extraordinary things in a sustainable way if we dare to act differently”, stated Ondrej Safar, CEO of CEZ Romania.
Neversea will become the world's first green-energy music festival in 2020, powered with energy from CEZ Group in Romania's Windfarm
Alongside CEZ Group in Romania, Neversea aims to become the world's first green-energy music festival in 2020, being powered by the energy produced at CEZ Group’s windfarm, located in Fantanele-Cogealac-Gradina, Constanta County. Since the beginning of the year, the organizers have started the procedures for implementing a "green" festival, which is a first step in shaping the common goal.
„The CEZ & Neversea Partnership is an example of international best practice which proves that two companies from totally different industries can achieve extraordinary results together by pooling resources that really turn into extremely courageous ideas and initiatives meant to contribute to the protection of us and the environment, on medium and long term”, stated Bogdan Radulescu, Head of Partnership of Neversea.
For the Neversea 2019 edition, CEZ area will be the first 100% green area of the festival. It will be fully powered with renewable energy and will take measures to prevent and reduce any adverse environmental effects: by selective collection of waste and its recycling; replacement of tableware and disposable plastic dishes with glasses or recyclable cardboards; removing plastic straws; selection of decorative elements that can be reused.
Wind energy - the most suitable alternative energy source for a quarter of Romanians
According to the study "The perception of Romanians about a green future", initiated by CEZ Romania with the launch of the communication campaign "The wind of green generation", more than half of the respondents (57.75%) believe that the solar energy would be the best alternative for the replacement of the current generation sources, and a quarter (26.75%) chose the wind energy as an alternative source.
The same study shows that half of the respondents (62.72%) are trying to have a positive impact on the environment through their daily activities, and one third have only a partial concern (33.85%). Among the Romanians who are responsible for the environment, 7 out of 10 are careful not to throw garbage in forbidden spaces, 6 out of 10 selectively recycle garbage and 54.69% try to reduce the consumption of water and energy.
Romanians consider that the three most serious problems facing the environment in the future are: pollution (86.4%), excessive use of natural resources (76.68%) and garbage (71.71%). In 20 years, three quarters of respondents believe the world will be more polluted. 48.76% of Romanians believe that in 20 years the world will be less green and 38.74% more dangerous.
71.42% of the respondents say that the lack of recycling infrastructure in the country prevents them from having a „greener” attitude and 20.39% say they do not have enough time to develop a more attentive attitude towards the environment.
The study was conducted between 2-6th May 2019 on the ivox.ro platform, on a sample of 1368 respondents from the urban area, statistically representative.
