The story to be told begins in a dialogue on a farm in Kenya. It has become folklore, and adults are accustomed to teaching it to their children. It’s especially about women.
The six-year-old granddaughter approached her grandmother who was digging a hole in the far corner of the farm and asked, “What are you doing, grandma?
“Come on, I’ll show you what I’m doing. Today I plant a tree for our country. Now I’m putting this seed in the pit now. It will soon grow a small plant. Then we water it and take good care of it in the sun to give it a good condition.”
“But grandma, why are you planting for the country?” the child asked her grandmother.
“Well, that’s a good question. 70 years ago, a girl like you asked the very same question from her grandmother. Let me tell you that story,” grandmother said.
Therefore, grandmother started to explain the story about the legend, “Mama Miti” or “Nature mother.” That legend is about ‘Wangari Maathai’.
