A 51-year-old woman passed away days after undergoing six cosmetic procedures during an eight-hour surgery in Brazil, leaving her family demanding answers about what happened after the operation.
The case has also sparked an online debate about how far people should go in the pursuit of cosmetic perfection.
Andreia Vieira Gaspar had reportedly spent two years saving for the procedures after traveling from Spain to Brazil for the surgery.

Andreia Vieira Gaspar underwent six cosmetic procedures during one surgery
Gaspar had been living in Spain for five years before traveling to Goiânia, Brazil, for the operation with plastic surgeon Dr. Lessandro Martins.
According to g1 (news portal in Brazil), the surgery lasted more than eight hours and involved six procedures on her face and neck. They included a facelift, blepharoplasty, liposuction, and facial fat grafting.
Her sister, Djiane Vieira, questioned whether Andreia received the emergency care she needed when her condition suddenly worsened.
She also revealed that Andreia had reportedly saved 118,000 Brazilian reais, around $22, 918, over two years to pay for the surgery.
Vieira said the procedure had been Andreia's long-held dream.
However, the operation was followed by serious complications, and Gaspar passed away on August 12.
After Andreia’s passing, her sister said she did not have a consultation before the surgery
Vieira alleged that her sister did not have a pre-surgery consultation with Dr. Martins before traveling to Brazil.
Instead, Vieira said Andreia completed her pre-operative tests in Spain and sent the results to the medical team.
A report obtained by TV Anhanguera allegedly indicated that those tests showed Andreia had a bacterial infection before the operation.
The family is now questioning whether that information should have affected the decision to proceed with the surgery.
The available reports do not establish that the alleged infection caused Andreia’s passing or that it should have prevented the operation.

Vieira revealed Andreia contacted the medical team through a group message after noticing the change. According to her account, her sister’s breathing then became worse.
Vieira said she repeatedly pleaded for someone to help.
“My sister is dying for God’s sake. You answer the phone, but nobody shows up. For God’s sake,” she told g1.
She alleged that Ankar Hospital lacked an intensive care unit or an emergency ambulance.
Vieira further shared that multiple attempts were made to resuscitate Andreia and that her sister eventually passed away in her arms.
After the tragic loss, Vieira says she refuses to stay silent and publicly demanded answers
In an Instagram post on September 8, Vieira said she had the right to question what happened to her sister because she had personally witnessed the events.
“I have the right to question [my sister’s] d*ath. I have the right to ask why she di*d after what I lived and witnessed,” she wrote.
“Nobody who wasn’t there knows what Andreia went through. Nobody feels the pain we’re experiencing. And that’s exactly why I won’t shut up.”
In another post, Vieira said she heard her sister ask for a doctor and witnessed what she described as her desperation.
After Vieira’s publicly demanded answers, Ankar Hospital rejected the suggestion that Andreia was left without proper emergency treatment.
Cristiene Pereira Couto, a lawyer representing the hospital, said the facility deeply regretted Gaspar’s d*ath and expressed sympathy for her family.
The lawyer said Andreia “received immediate emergency care” and that the medical and nursing teams took the necessary steps after her condition deteriorated.
The hospital also said its records documented the treatment provided and could be made available to authorities investigating the passing.
“Ankar Hospital remains available to provide all relevant clarifications and fully cooperate with the investigation of the facts, with transparency, responsibility, and respect for the patient, the family, and the professionals involved.”

Dr. Martins also responded through a legal statement.
He said he “deeply regrets” Andreia’s passing and offered condolences to her family.
However, he declined to discuss her medical records or the details of her treatment, citing medical confidentiality.
“All clarifications will be provided, with full cooperation, to the competent authorities, the only appropriate forums for investigating the facts. The doctor trusts that the investigation will demonstrate the correctness of the care provided.”
News of Andreia’s passing also prompted strong reactions online.
