Lots of people can feed chipmunks. They are reasonably friendly creatures (with humans, not each other). However, I have gone far beyond that.
Allow me to introduce Crimson. Like those that came before her, she eats from my hand (literally climbs into my hand). She loves safflower seeds and pine nuts most, but she also takes sunflower seeds, peanuts, and corn. She really loves to eat pieces of fresh bananas. Unlike the others, I have trained Crimson to come in under my garage door, through the door into the house, up my back stairs, and into my living room for snacks and snuggles. The videos tell the story best! Seeing is believing.
My name is Troy. I am a tenured prof at Minneapolis Community & Technical College. I have written books, won awards, and been a keynote speaker. And I could care less about any of that when compared to the love I feel for creatures. I have spent thousands of hours exercising patience, kindness, and love to train chipmunks to trust me completely. Their trust is a gift for which I am deeply grateful.
Crimson is my precious sweetheart. I hope you love her too.
