While my wife is deployed overseas for the next year, I took the opportunity to pick this years Halloween Costumes for my son and I. The wifu didn't know what we were going as, so it was a nice little surprise for her too.
I made the costumes from scratch, which was loads of fun, and then we went out playing in proper Calvin and Hobbes fashion for the day.
We made sure to take as much video as possible (and stay true to Watterson's ethos of exploration and adventure) so that we could send the video to my wife. We send her a video everyday to give her a sense of normalcy, keep her updated, and make her feel included and loved while she's away.
The videos are also to keep record of our adventures. My dad (who helped make this video) has terminal brain cancer. So, it'll be nice to have videos of our time together to look back on... especially when my son is older.
Hanging out in the woods, school, wooden sword fights, tree house adventures, Spaceman Spiff, downhill wagon rides!
I tried to cram as much Calvin and Hobbes activities in to one day before we went out trick or treating. The only big thing I feel we missed out on was a riveting game of Calvin Ball. Maybe we should include it in another episode?
