Getting cheated on by someone you love can be incredibly painful. You put your faith in the relationship, believing you’re building a life together, only to learn the person you trusted has been seeing someone else behind your back. More often than not, the whole truth is far worse than you could have imagined.
Just like this man, who discovered that his wife was cheating on him and had become pregnant by her affair partner. When she tried to turn the tables on him with false allegations, he had video evidence that exposed all her lies. See how the betrayal unfolded and how it cost her the family life she took for granted.

When lies make it harder to rebuild trust after cheating, sometimes it’s better to walk away
Cheating can do lasting damage to a relationship, especially when the person who strays shows little concern for the hurt they have caused. Clinical psychologist Galena Rhoades, PhD, explains in an interview with the American Psychological Association that infidelity can ruin trust and leave people questioning their relationship and themselves. For the betrayed partner, it can be hard to see the person they love the same way again.
The hurt can deepen when the lies continue after the affair comes to light. Relationship experts explain that repeated lying adds another layer of betrayal, making it harder for the hurt partner to trust again. Rebuilding a relationship after infidelity takes honesty, patience, and consistent effort from the partner who cheated. Promises mean little if their actions keep telling a different story.
In this man’s case, the deception lasted months, making it hard to imagine how he could rebuild trust with his wife. She had not only been seeing another man but had also involved their young children by asking them to keep her visits with her lover a secret. Discovering that she was pregnant by the other man added another major complication to a marriage already damaged by lies.
However, leaving a marriage is rarely easy, especially when kids are involved. A parent may know the relationship is no longer working but still worry about how divorce will affect their children’s well-being.
These concerns are understandable, but staying together at any cost is not always best for a family. What matters most is whether both parents can provide a stable, caring environment for their children, together or apart.
In this man’s case, his wife telling her lover that her husband could keep their children raised serious questions about their future as a family. When partners can no longer agree on the life they want together or work as a team to raise their children, repairing the marriage may not be the best option. Separating can give both parents the chance to move forward and build a healthier, more stable environment for their children.
When kids are involved, staying in an unhappy marriage isn't always what's best for them
If you decide that a marriage cannot continue after infidelity, it helps to understand your options before making major decisions. A family lawyer can explain your rights regarding divorce, shared property, finances, and parenting arrangements under the laws where you live. Getting advice early can help you protect your interests and avoid angry decisions that could complicate matters later.
This preparation is important if your partner starts making allegations or disputes your account of what happened. Keep relevant messages and records, and ask a lawyer what evidence you can legally collect and use in your jurisdiction. In this man’s case, the hidden-camera footage captured his wife’s affair and her threats to make false allegations against him. He relied on the footage when she later accused him of hitting her.
When children are involved, custody is a separate question from who was at fault in the marriage. The American Psychological Association explains that custody arrangements determine a child’s care and supervision, and courts may consider evaluations when deciding these matters.
Having an affair does not automatically mean a parent will lose custody. Relevant laws and the child’s best interests guide the decision, including safety, stability, and care.
Parents going through a bitter separation also need to protect their kids from the conflict. Avoid asking them to choose sides, using them to pass messages, or sharing adult details they are not ready to understand. Keep their routines as steady as possible and let them know they are loved and cared for. If the separation is taking a toll on them, support from a qualified child or family counselor may help them adjust.
The end of a marriage can be painful enough without lies, accusations, and a fight over the children making things worse. Protecting yourself and your kids matters more than getting even with an unfaithful partner.
