Why Brushing Dogs’ Teeth Matters

Toothbrushing is a part of our daily routine. It is so natural for us that sometimes we don’t even think of its meaning.
The same way we don’t even think that toothbrushing should become a daily routine for our dogs.
Well, as a matter of fact, it should.
Imagine a human being not taking proper care of their oral health.
Imagine all the consequences of improper oral health including bad breath, tooth decay, tooth loss, gum disease, constant pain, and so on.
Our dogs are not very different from us in this regard.
Except for one thing; dogs’ oral disease is usually silent. You may know nothing of it until it devastates your dogs’ mouth and brings irreversible consequences to their life.
Instead this happens all-to-often to our dogs.
Oral disease is the # 1 medical problem among dogs nowadays. 84% of dogs show signs of periodontal disease by the age of 3.
It all starts with plaque building up on dogs’ teeth within 24-hours. When there is a lack of regular tooth care plaque hardens into tartar. Bacteria in tartar cause inflammation and deep pockets in the gums surrounding the teeth. This is the very initial stage and the main reason for further periodontal disease development and problems including cavities, broken teeth, orthodontic disease, tooth resorption, tooth root abscesses, jaw fractures, nasal infection, eye loss and oral cancer.
However, the worst is yet to come.
Bacteria from tartar transfers and infects the bloodstream causing great damage to the dog’s major organs including heart, liver, kidneys and lungs.
The last major argument for regular toothbrushing; though dogs may not show signs from dental disease, early stages can cause pain.
All of the above mentioned are a direct result of your dogs’ daily hygiene lack.
Though brushing is a gold standard to keep a dog healthy, pet parents frequently skip this vital procedure.
Statistics says 90% of dog parents skip the process of daily toothbrushing.
This is a consequence of several factors:
1. Pet parents unawareness of important health issues
2. Dogs’ intolerance towards toothbrushing, especially if the dog was not taught to do it
3. Lack of time and patience of dog parents to take proper care of their dogs’ oral health
Bristly brushing stick was invented to address all the issues regarding daily toothbrushing of the dog. The stick has functional and intuitive design to promote independent toothbrushing for dogs of all sizes and breeds.
