We turn discarded aircraft seat covers into luxury bags and accessories that have a beautiful and remarkable backstory and personality.
They have travelled around the world, had good days and bad, they have seen it all, up in the air and down on the ground, now our aim is to give them a new lease of life, a new purpose for a new journey.
18,000,000 Miles
68 Countries
36,000 Feet in the Air
575 Mile an Hour.
The numbers above represent the life of the material before we rescure it.
Each piece resonates with personality and history, but more importantly it stands for a better way of making by wasting less and using more of what’s already around us. Luxury, beauty and indulgence you can feel good about. We call it Luxury waste.
Every year 350 airliners are broken up and around 100,000 seats decommissioned. Each of those seats has had thousands of refits and recovering during its lifetime.
We’ve a good few bales of the stuff: it's light, durable and stain-resistant. We start by sifting and sorting the very best cloth. It’s then off for a professional deep clean and strength test; next the pattern cut. Ben then takes it to our traditional bag maker partner a few miles down the road, all made locally in the UK - where tanned Italian leather and American made solid brass fittings are added. Finally, it’s back to PLANE for packing and personal monogramming.
Founded by Ben and Harry Tucker, the guys behind Fallen Furniture the debut col-lection consists of a Weekend bag, Rucksack, Messenger and various Sleeves for Laptops, Tablets and Phones. It’s repurposed and reimagined material; it may have clocked 18 million miles but each piece is carefully handcrafted and perfected. Good for 18 million more.
Our project is currently live on Kickstarter, and as the fabric comes in a wide range of different patterns and colours, there will be a limited number of items available on this first short run.
