In the spirit of comedy and fun, our neighborhood got together with our kids and made a Star Wars parody fan film. It is a cross between Disney's 'The Parent Trap' and 'Star Wars' called 'THE PADAWAN TRAP'. It is a story about two girls; one a Jedi, and the other a Sith, who meet for the first time at Jedi Training Girls Camp and discover that they are sisters.
The movie parallels both movies and borrows elements from each, such as the Luke and Vader duel in 'The Empire Strikes Back' and the fencing scene from 'The Parent Trap'. In 'THE PADAWAN TRAP', the young Sith has a lightsaber duel with her Jedi sister and tells her "I am your sister...". Then the story takes a comical turn as, unlike 'Empire Strikes Back', the Jedi ends up joining her Sith sister, and the two of them wreak havoc and prank the rest of the camp using the force.
It's a wholesome family friendly comedy with an unexpected twist at the end which teaches a good moral lesson about not judging someone before you get to know them. The film has gained national attention and was recently featured on TheForce.net, as well as The Disney Blog.
The movie took about six months to write, film and edit, and was produced by non-professionals just for fun, but it's a decent production for a bunch of amateurs. It's funny, cute and definitely worth watching, and if you have kids, they will love it.
