Most countries have a huge problem of involving the seniors in the community. Lots of elderly people does not feel as a part of the society, thus they lack of good mood, events to go and chances to make new friends. That is why we, non-government association based in Lithuania - "Active Youth" decided to make a change.
Our goal was to invite youth and youth workers from different countries which face senior involvement problems and offer them a training course. The course "(CSI) Community: Seniors Involved" aims to promote different events, involving seniors and changing their lives by giving the needed knowledge for the youth workers.
One of the nicest events which we organised (and we believe you can also organise yourself) was an open dance class "Dance with Grandma". We invited people from Kaunas, Lithuania to share their dance skills and to learn some foreign dances from different countries, such as Turkey or Portugal. The event was a huge success, despite the fact that local people, especially the seniors are not always keen on joining.
Have a look!
