We Have No Cure & No Vaccine. But We Have Social Distancing.

With months dragging on with the COVID-19 crisis, we can observe a lot of people slowly letting go of the tight noose of social / physical distancing protocols. As countries test several vaccines & possible cures for the global pandemic that could help, the only factor that’s been showing significant changes in several contexts at the moment is the extent to which the population is following social distancing measures provided by the World Health Organization & individual governments.

That said, with quite an unusually long time people are spending in confinement, each individual is trying to find their own loophole within distancing protocols; between tighter gatherings and strictly seeing individuals that “are isolating as well”, most people are not aware of how even such minimal instants of exposure can quickly aid in the spread of the disease.

Data4Chan.ge, a non-profit organization with a global network of creative talent collaborating at the intersection of data, design, technology, and journalism on projects that forge real change and have lasting impact, has put together a global task force to respond to the COVID-19 crisis, where the team from Egypt has crafted a set of GIFS inspired by daily life instances where people break social distancing measures and justify them as if they were safe loopholes in social distancing protocols, and visualize how even those small instances of exposure even if with a few friends, could mean we’re exposed to a way wider network.
