It was on our way sailing from Tanzania to Madagascar. Our steering gave up and we decided to come to the Comoros Islands to make some repairs and to see this amazing archipelago in the Indian Ocean.
We arrived to Anjouan island, in Mutsamudu port. The island smells like Christmas - mandarins, cloves and vanilla…
"Come on, it will be just a few stairs. We are going to see vanilla plantations" - Maketse, a local travel guide, told us. A few stairs later we felt as there are thousand steps up to the mountain. That's how the farmers get into their plantations. A breathtaking view to the town and the bay, thickets of banana, cassava fields and big lianas climbing up the tree. Come with us to see where there the best vanilla in the world is growing. To see how yland ylang (the main ingredient of Chanel parfume) is flowering”.
In the next film we’ll show you life in a small seaside village in the Comoros.
