In short The Mill is an ambitious hi-jacking and reversal of the well-established George A. Romero-esque zombie genre. It dares an original re-imagining of many comparable and increasingly stale pop-culture franchises (The Walking Dead, World War Z, Resident Evil, etc.) by reversing the canon and presenting the non-infected as the threat to civilisation. Set in a near-future confronted by climate change & food shortage, a mysterious agrochemical corporation produces engineered synthetic bread which (accidentally?) turns the hungry into slow, nonviolent zombie-like creatures made of loaves of freshly baked bread. While harmless, the Walking Bread fall prey to the hungry living, who can’t resist eating them and also mutate into bread zombies, thus spreading the pandemic through the city...
