This print “Vitiligo Beauty” is part of my new series titled “Redefining Beauty” which challenges what society believes “real beauty” is. It gives a voice to those who are not often represented in our culture. Winnie Harlow is the subject for this painting. She is a Canadian fashion model and public spokesperson on the skin condition vitiligo. She gained prominence as a contestant on the twenty-first cycle of the U.S. television series America’s Next Top Model due to her condition.
I chose her in this series, because she has something precious and valuable to offer those who struggle with their appearance- hope and self acceptance. If Winnie can learn to love and accept herself while living with a rare skin condition, then we can all learn to see the beauty in ourselves.
This print makes an encouraging gift for anyone struggling to be confident in their physical appearance and offers a hope that you can make a powerful impact despite your appearance.
