In an interview with Bored Panda, 54-year-old Okka Supardan shared more about himself. “I work at a Regional Owned Enterprise (Regional Drinking Water Company). My hobby is photography.”
We were curious to learn what initially drew Okka to the world of photography. He wrote: “I like adventuring into nature; coincidentally the nature in my village is quite good because it is near Mount Ciremai. Then I captured every moment of natural beauty in my area using a Canon DSLR camera, then I posted it on social media (Facebook and Instagram); two years later it went viral and many have become tourist destinations.”
Okka also shared details about his creative process: “I always make work that is different (anti-mainstream), unique, goofy, and funny so that many people are interested, so that my work has its own characteristics, without copying other people's work.”
He added: “To produce good images and work, you have to learn a lot about photography practice.”
As for the audience’s takeaway, Okka wrote: “It must be mutually beneficial, both in terms of popularity, reputation, and financially.”
Lastly, he added: “Be wise to respect each other's work."
