#1 I Don't Have A Valentine's Date This Year, So I Made A Little Dinner With My Cat

To learn more about how couples can make the best out of the fourteenth of February, we contacted John Kenny aka The Relationship Guy, who helps people to create healthy loving relationships.
"When it comes to Valentine's Day, there seems to be the misconception that you need to do something of a grand nature, to overly celebrate as a sign of your love," Kenny told Bored Panda.
"But, the best thing to do is to do what you know each other will like and what will mean the most to them."

If you are still stuck for ideas, Kenny suggests using The 5 Love Languages as a starting point. "Consider your partner's primary love language and make a decision based on what will mean most to them," he said.
"If they prefer your time, then make time to spend with them, if they prefer acts of service, then do something nice for them. If they prefer touch and intimacy, then make sure you do something where you can be close to them physically," he explained.
The key thing, according to Kenny, is to do something that makes them truly feel how much you care about them.

Coupled up or not, more than half (53 percent) of U.S. consumers were planning to celebrate the holiday, and more than three-quarters (76 percent) believe it's important to show some love on Valentine's Day given the current times.

However, if you are single and it's somewhat bugging you during this time of year, The Relationship Guy pointed out that you can find friends that are also single and go out to have some fun together.
"Don't sit around wishing you had someone to spend the day with as it will just make you feel alone and possibly trigger you and any self-doubt or self-worth issues that you have," he said. "Remember that a relationship doesn't complete you, it complements your life and who you are."
