My color illustrations are based on painting techniques I learned in India that were used to illustrate Hindu stories on the walls of temples and palaces in Kerala beginning in the 9th century. My black-and-white illustrations are also adapted from this style in both brush & ink as well as linocut. My writing and illustrations have appeared in teacher and family guides to the Textile Museum and the National Gallery of Art, both in Washington, DC. My artwork has been featured in ReVision and Science Activities journals. I also completed the interior illustrations for the YA novel Ten of Us: Jottings From the Diary of an Indian Urban Teenage Girl (Frog Publications, 2005).
