Travel Photos From Shkoder, Albania

Here are some photos from my trip to Albania in the Shkoder region. Albania is one of the cheapest countries in Europe for backpacking and travel.
I stayed there for about a week, exploring the area around Lake Shkoder. There's a very old castle/ruins called Rozafa Castle. This castle has been in use since the antiquities, well before the Romans.
The castle provides a 360 panoramic view of the area as you can see from the photos. This is one of the cleaner parts of Albania. I found the country to be littered with trash - especially in the surrounding suburbs of the capital city, Tirana.
I also rented a bike to explore the Old Mes bridge, which is an old Ottoman Era bridge on the outskirts of Shkoder. It's a little cleaner than some of the bridge I explored near Tirana - it was full of trash. The trash is kind of everywhere which is disappointing since it makes the historic look cheap.
There's a nice little mosque in downtown Shkoder that's also worth noting. It's not the biggest I've seen but is pretty photogenic!
I also spent some time in Kruje, there's a nice little market/bazaar that's left over from the Ottoman era - it's also worth checking out.
Overall, I highly recommend you check out Shkoder if you're ever in Albania, or just travel to Albania for that matter. It's not as popular as the other parts of Europe but totally worth it for the scenery.
