Two piglets, injured and terrified, were confiscated by the NSPCA from a dirty, dark pen and given to the care of Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary in the Western Cape of South Africa, which I founded four years ago and which is home to 90 rescued pigs. The piglets were badly traumatised and scared of humans, the only contact they had endured from humans had been brutal. Both had been swung around by their back legs leading to serious injury and disability. To calm the frightened babies down, I sang them a lullaby and they started to respond to the first loving touch they have ever received in their two months of life.
