Six different bags in one – how is that possible? Lithuanian designers Elze and Milita have found the answer – transformation. Few magic moves and your bag becomes an exclusive backpack or a compact evening accessory. Indigo Textile combines all – unique style, comfort, and practicality – no need to compromise!
Who are you and what is your story?
We are Elze and Milita and our partnership started while studying Textile Design at Vilnius Art Academy. In 2014 the studio "Indigo Textile" was born. We create various accessories, textile, design and art objects. In a short time, we gained popularity and got professional awards.
The only word that stays unexplained is INDIGO. What is behind it?
Indigo is a dark blue dye obtained from the indigo plant and it is being used in textile a lot. We also really like this color so eventually it landed in our brand name.
Your current focus is on the brand of visually attractive and multifunctional backpacks. How did you come up with this idea?
We have observed a niche in the market for a product, that would match aesthetics with functionality. Our goal was to develop an original patented design keeping functionality as an equally important feature.
We have adapted our product to individuals, who lead busy and diverse lifestyles. Each backpack can be easily transformed into at least six different shapes: from a stylish evening bag to a waterproof sack, where one can carry a laptop or groceries even during the wildest storm. No matter which option – it is comfortable, durable and has an authentic look.
Your design is very minimalistic and bold. Why is that?
Our creation process is based on the motto – simplicity is genius. We finalize our products by reducing and removing all the unnecessary details leaving just the essential.
How do you choose the materials for your products?
We always look for more interesting textures and colors. Due to environmental reasons, we do not use leather and cooperate only with European providers, who are geographically closer and who produce certified fabrics. This careful selection results in a high-quality final product that is aesthetically pleasing, waterproof, UV resistant and extremely durable. The broad color palette offers more than enough tones for any taste and occasion.
