Nikiszowiec is part of the administrative district of the city of Katowice
Initially, it was a workers' settlement for miners of the "Giesche" mine built in the Gieschewald manor area (Giszowiec) in the years 1908-1918 at the initiative of the mining and metallurgical concern Georg von Giesches Erben.
About 1,000 apartments were built in the estate.
The entire complex consists of 9 interconnected brick buildings and the neo-baroque church of St. Anne.
