I suffer from many chronic physical and mental health conditions. By far the hardest symptoms to explain to people are those that don't relate to emotion, things that they cannot imagine because they have no experience of anything like it. So I use long exposures, dusty lenses and expired film to show people what it feels like to suffer from derealisation, depersonalisation, paralysis, brain-fog, a fragmented sense of self, and to convey how odd and frightening the world can be when your neurons refuse to fire correctly.
