This Israeli Soldier Girl Draws Mesmerizing Illustrations On Her Arms When She’s Bored

Anyone who has ever served in the military knows that there can be a lot of down time. And when you’re young, and bored, and stranded in the middle of nowhere with no wifi, just about anything can become your canvas for creativity, even your own body.

Shani Nitzan, a 20 year old soldier in the Israeli Defense Forces serves as an NCO in the Education Corps within the Combat Engineering Brigade and she found a great way to make use of all of the free time she has. When she’s not busy training soldiers, she pulls out her black pen and with oodles of creativity and skill, creates stunning illustrations on her left arm.

When she’s not busy training soldiers, she pulls out her black pen and with oodles of creativity and skill, creates stunning illustrations on her left arm.

“I’ve been drawing since I was a senior in highschool,” says Shani.

“I mean, I’ve been drawing for ever but it was really in senior year, when I was taking Physics, that I noticed that I was drawing during class.”

“But when I don’t have a notebook or paper, I need something else to draw on."

"I always have a black pen in the pocket of my uniform and my left arm is always with me too,” she joked.

Shani captures her detail-filled illustrations with her smartphone and posts each and every one of them on her Facebook page

We asked her how terrible it feels to have to wash her drawings off every single day. “That’s the best part,” she said. “I get new body art every day.”

Shani is scheduled to be released in 7 months and she hopes to become a tattoo artist.

Meanwhile, she runs a small side business selling her sketches for tattoos as well as her drawings.
